Disadvantaged Business Enterprise
2010 National "Champion of Diversity Award"

In April 2010 Stephen F.  Wright, President/CEO of CHRISTUS Health Louisiana, received a
“Champion of Diversity Award” in Washington, D.C. for outstanding achievements in various diversity initiatives surrounding employment, procurement, and education. In December of that year the Central LA Business League (CLBL), one of the groups that nominated Stephen for the Award, congratulated him at its Annual Meeting and Holiday Gala held in Marksville, LA, and attended by approximately 240 representatives from business and industry, non-profit organiations, state and local government, and the faith-based community.

In an effort to encourage and enhance economic development in our community, CHRISTUS Health Central Louisiana under Stephen’s leadership has committed to making good faith efforts to spend ten (10) percent of its dollars with small businesses owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals known as Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs).
It was reported at CLBL’s Meeting and Gala that CHRISTUS Health Central LA ended its fiscal year by exceeding its goal and achieving 10.79% in local diversity spending as well as achieving a total of 25.95% with Cabrini Hospital and  Coushatta Health Care combined.  In summary, this means that Christus Health Central LA spent over $25 million dollars with various business enterprises (minority, veteran-owned, woman-owned, disadvantaged, small and emerging, and historically underutilized businesses) in our community.
